3 army officers killed in chopper crash

Three Indian Army officers were killed when their Cheetah helicopter crashed around the border between the states of Nagaland and Mizoram. Pilots, Majors Nikhil Prakash and Rakesh Sharma and passenger, Colonel PK Pal died in the crash that took place on Wednesday morning around 0845 hours local time, believed to have been caused by poor visibility and bad weather.

The aircraft took off at 0825 hours from Rangapahar near Dimapur for Limakong near Imphal but is reported to have broken contact over Dzukou valley. The bodies of all three were recovered after search and rescue teams reached the crash site. An inquiry into the incident is underway.
