High Court clearance required for artillery tender

The Delhi High Court has placed a hold on the acquisition of artillery guns by the Indian Army without its clearance. In the course of hearings of writ petitions filed by arms company, Singapore Technologies Kinetics, a bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kishen Kaul and Justice Rajiv Shakdher passed an interim order on May 02, 2011, asking the Ministry of Defense to refrain from awarding the tender without ‘leave and liberty of the court’.

Navy inducts interceptor boats

The Indian Navy has inducted three Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC). These are the first of fifteen FICs in an order to a French manufacturer worth around USD 13 million. A second order worth USD 67 million for the acquisition of 80 more FICs has been given to Solas Lanka.

Navy looking for more helicopters

The Indian Navy has issued a Request For Information for a second batch of Multi-Role Helicopters, even with the existing tender process for 16 helicopters still under way. Unlike the earlier tender, the new RFI is also taking Life Cycle Cost into consideration as part of the assessment process.
