Indian Interceptor Missile checks out

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), conducted a test of the Interceptor Missile in the endo-atmospheric regime (up to 30 kilometers) at an altitude of 15 kilometers, off the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at the resort town of Chandipur-on-sea in Orissa on Monday. The single-stage missile, fitted with a directional warhead and other ‘advanced systems’ neutralized the target, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.

The target ballistic ‘enemy’ missile was launched from Launch Complex – III at the ITR, with the Interceptor Missile launched from Wheeler Island. The interceptor was tracked by radars, destroying the target missile and breaking it into fragments.
