The Indian Navy commissioned DSC A20, the first of five indigenously built Diving Support Craft, during a ceremony at Naval Base Kochi on December 16, 2025. The vessel was inducted into service under the Southern Naval Command.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, and hosted by Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition.
DSC A20 is the lead ship in a series of five Diving Support Craft being built by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), Kolkata. The contract for construction of the vessels was signed between the Ministry of Defence and TRSL on February 12, 2021. During the design phase, hydrodynamic analysis and model testing were carried out at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam.
The vessel has a catamaran hull design and a displacement of approximately 390 tonnes. It has been designed and constructed in accordance with the rules of the Indian Register of Shipping. DSC A20 is equipped with modern diving systems and is intended to support underwater inspections, repairs, harbour clearance operations and other diving missions in coastal waters.
