Nokia and NestAI have announced a strategic partnership intended to advance artificial intelligence applications in defence and critical infrastructure. As part of the collaboration, Nokia and Finnish Industry Investment Ltd (Tesi) have invested a combined €100 million in NestAI, which develops AI systems for unmanned vehicles, autonomous operations, and command-and-control platforms used in logistics, surveillance, inspection, security and defence.
Nokia said the partnership aligns with its work on secure, AI-native connectivity as militaries adopt dual-use technologies. The company has launched a defence incubation business unit to support cooperation with partners in the United States, Finland and other NATO and Five Eyes countries.
Justin Hotard, President and CEO at Nokia, said, “At Nokia, we believe that the future of defense and critical infrastructure will be defined by secure, AI-native solutions. Our strategic partnership with NestAI is a testament to our commitment to innovation with partners. By combining Nokia’s expertise in secure advanced connectivity with NestAI’s pioneering platforms, we are accelerating the development of next-generation capabilities for defense and national safety. This investment reflects our shared ambition to shape the future of AI-driven solutions.”
Peter Sarlin, Chairman of the board at PostScriptum and NestAI, and Co-founder & CEO at AMD Silo AI, said, “This partnership lays the foundation for a future in which Europe sustains a technological edge, and allows NestAI to deliver at scale.”
Tesi’s Head of VC & Growth Investments, Juha Lehtola, said the fund sees NestAI “emerging as a foundational technology partner for mission-critical defence and security environments across Europe.”
Nokia and NestAI plan to collaborate on AI-enabled unmanned systems, data-centric command-and-control systems, and other defence-oriented digital capabilities.
