Security forces brace for J&K infiltration before winter

Indian security forces are bracing themselves for a possible hike in terrorist infiltration into the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir before winter sets in, rendering the traditional ingress routes unnavigable.

Communication intercepts have revealed the transfer of at least INR 1 million, via Hawala, a remittance system that operates outside traditional banking channels from the leadership of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar e Toiba to its operatives in the Jammu and Kashmir. Intercepts also indicate that a second transfer of an equal amount is expected, for the purpose of facilitating infiltration and terrorist activities in the state.
