Joby Conducts First Flight of Demo Turbine-Electric VTOL

Joby Aviation has completed the first flight of its turbine-electric hybrid VTOL aircraft, developed with L3Harris Technologies to expand the range and operational use of its electric air taxi platform for commercial and defence applications. The company said the demonstrator builds on its all-electric aircraft, which has logged over 50,000 miles of flight testing and is in the final phase of Federal Aviation Administration type certification.

“I think the policy makes all the sense in the world for what the Prime Minister wants to do for the aerospace and defense sector,” said Chris Raymond, VP for Business Development & Strategy at Boeing Defense Space & Security.

Vivek Lall leading new RIL tech venture

Lall, who joined Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) two weeks back, is reporting directly to the Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani. His brief is to stand up the new venture, which will focus on technologies like advanced material sciences and advanced communications technologies, that are likely to have a bouquet of applications in the homeland security, aerospace and defense sectors.
