Boeing scouts AH-6i market

Boeing’s Dave Brostrom briefed media about the light armed helicopter and their expectations of its market potential at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition (LIMA2015) last month.

2nd IAF C-17 delivered

The IAF chief, ACM NAK Browne placed on record his ‘appreciation to the US government, the US Air Force and the Boeing team for the timely delivery of the aircraft that makes the IAF the world’s second-largest operator of the C-17 after the US’.

1st IAF C-17 lands in India

The aircraft took off from the company’s manufacturing plant at Long Beach, California on June 11 and made several stops, including one at Barcelona, before it arrived in India.

General Dynamics to exhibit airborne-compatible Bowman BMS

General Dynamics UK will showcase its Bowman Battlefield Management System (BMS), configured for tactical communication between air and land domains, at Aero India 2011 in Bangalore next week. It will also demonstrate its solutions for airfield security and avionics systems for the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) and the Eurofighter Typhoon.

India is going to be disappointed with President Barack Obama’s visit beginning Saturday after next. The upside of this is that the Indo-US relationship has come a long way in so short a time as to engender expectations that could induce performance anxiety.

IAF begins C-17 trials

The Indian Air Force (IAF) began the trials of the C-17 strategic lift aircraft on Monday. The aircraft will be required to land in high altitude airfields, switch off and take off again. Load carrying capability and expeditionary landing and take off ability is also likely to be examined hands-on by IAF pilots.

Boeing moves towards mother ships for UAVs

Boeing is working on a program to integrate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with manned aircraft, to enable the latter to control and direct them in the air and increase the scope of ISR (Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance) sensory inputs.
While so far, Boeing’s Apache combat helicopters have displayed the ability to control a single UAV, the company has multiplied the scope of the same system to enable larger aircraft like the family of 737 AEW&C Wedgetail and P8 to control multiple UAVs.
