The new order for two of the Indian Navy’s four HDW Type-209 submarines is expected to cost an estimated USD 200 million and the planned purchase currently awaits the Indian govt’s approval of the US Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA).
Boeing will show-off models of the C-17, P-8I, Apache and Chinook helicopters, ScanEagle UAV and the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft.
The aircraft took off from the company’s manufacturing plant at Long Beach, California on June 11 and made several stops, including one at Barcelona, before it arrived in India.
“India is a significant market for Boeing and we are committed to working closely with the defense ministry, armed forces and indigenous industry to meet India’s defense and security needs,” said Dennis Swanson, vice president, International Business Development, Boeing Defense, Space & Security in India.
