Saab offers DRDO underground radar

Saab has offered its radar, CARABAS, to the Defense Research and Development Organization’s Electronics and Radar Development Establishment for evaluation. The radar can penetrate densely-forested areas and detect mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) buried underground.

Boeing starts war gaming den

The US defense major Boeing has started an Analysis and Experimentation Center in Bangalore in partnership with the Indian government-owned defense company Bharat Electronics Limited. The center will conduct studies for clients that require projections of play-outs of future conflict scenario.

Induction and conversion training delay Arjun/T-90 face-off

The trials will see two regiments, one each of T-90s and Arjuns, going head-to-head. The trials are not merely a clinical exercise aimed at comparing the features of the two tanks but will also feature battlefield operational exercises to try and determine the strengths and weakness of both tanks in a battle-like scenario.

The DRDO is fighting to get increased orders from the army since the existing order for 124 tanks needs to be multiplied by a factor of five before the project can become economically viable.
