IAF-RAF drill begins

Warbirds of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the British Royal Air Force (RAF) took off on Wednesday to match skills against each other in the joint exercise Indradhanush (Rainbow) at IAF Kalaikunda, in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal.

New runway at IAF Gwalior

The Gwalior Air Base of the India Air Force (IAF) became the first IAF base to get a second operational runway, parallel to the first, on Wednesday. Air Marshal GS Kochar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command inaugurated the second runway at Gwalior which also inducted the Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft on Wednesday.

IAF C-130J makes first flight

The first of six C-130J Super Hercules for India took to the skies for its maiden flight yesterday. The aircraft will now complete a series of company and customer flight tests prior to delivery in December.

IAF pitches for airbase at Nyoma

The proposal is currently being vetted by the Ministry of Defense and if cleared, it would take at least four years to construct the requisite infrastructure at Nyoma, which is envisaged to allow fighter operations.

IAF C-130 starts engines

The first Indian Air Force C-130J ran its engines for the first time on Tuesday, September 21. The aircraft is being prepared for its maiden flight early next month. The aircraft’s distinctive air-to-air refueling probe can be seen over the left side of the cockpit.
