The UK has disclosed details of a Russian submarine operation near critical undersea infrastructure, with British and allied forces tracking vessels in the High North and surrounding waters amid increased Russian naval activity.
The German Navy has taken delivery of its first NH90 Sea Tiger helicopter, with a total of 31 Sea Tigers planned to replaced the Sea Lynx fleet. The NH90 is equipped with sonar systems and can deploy torpedoes and anti-ship missiles.
The UK and Norway have agreed to operate a combined fleet of Type 26 frigates and deepen defence cooperation to counter rising Russian submarine activity and protect critical infrastructure in the North Atlantic.
Northrop Grumman has delivered the first Airborne Laser Mine Detection System pod to South Korea under the Korean Mine Countermeasures Helicopter program, supporting mine detection and classification in coastal waters. The system, already in service with the U.S. and Japanese navies, uses laser-based sensors to locate floating and near-surface mines and will be integrated into the Republic of Korea Navy’s mine countermeasure fleet.
