IAF’s MMRCA trials to begin next week

StratPost has been reliably informed that the trials for the 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) are slated to begin in the last week of July or the first week of August. Boeing’s F/A-18 Super Hornet is to be the first aircraft that will be tried out for the estimated $ 10 billion order.

Gripen takes a hit in MMRCA race after US bullying: Report

The Jerusalem Post has reported that under US pressure the Israeli Defense Ministry has ordered the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to withdraw from a project to jointly develop the Gripen IN with Gripen’s parent company Saab. The Gripen IN is the aircraft Saab has been proposing to offer the Indian Air Force.

Rafale still in MMRCA Race

The Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major implicitly confirmed the French Rafale fighter to be still in the running for the the $ 11 billion 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) tender, while stating the Technical Evaluations of the six contenders deal had been completed.

MoD meet on Rafale rubbished

“Antony has categorically said no movement on defense contracts will take place until the formation of the new government and the presence of a new defense minister,” a source told StratPost. He also denied such a meeting took place. The Statesman has however, reported otherwise.

Dassault responds to Rafale rejection

A source at Dassault told StratPost, “Other bidders might say on paper that they meet the requirements of the RfP. But if the others bidders say they meet the RfP requirements they are lying.” Dassault has warned the claims made by bidders for the MMRCA may be exagerrated and may end up scuttling the process.

French Naval Rafales grounded by virus

French newspaper Liberation reported the virus to have infected the French Navy’s databases leaving the Rafales ‘nailed to the ground’ on January 15 and 16 this year. The Dassault aircraft Rafale is one of the six contenders for the 126 MMRCA tender issued by IAF.
