
German troops, Leopard tanks and other military equipment have arrived in Lithuania for the first major exercise involving Germany’s new brigade. The Freedom Shield drill brings together NATO forces to train near Russia’s borders.

Fraunhofer IDMT has developed an acoustic drone-detection system capable of identifying and locating unmanned aerial vehicles even when they are obscured by terrain or structures. Designed to integrate with radar, optical and lidar sensors, the system provides 360-degree coverage with low energy consumption and autonomous operation.

Germany’s intelligence chief Martin Jäger warned that the country is already “under fire” from Russia and must prepare for further escalation. Speaking to lawmakers, he said Moscow seeks to destabilize NATO and intimidate Europe amid rising tensions, airspace violations, and drone incidents over German infrastructure.
This is only terribly exciting because a government has been caught doing something that tons of script-kiddies have been doing for more than fifteen years. What’s far more exciting is the virus that refuses to go away in America’s drones.
‘One would naturally think we’d be good, with our IT and knowledge economy. The fact is, we haven’t identified, trained and nurtured talent on an institutional basis. India may have a lot of whiz kids but we still haven’t tapped them as a force-multiplying resource.’
