The U.S. Navy’s Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Michael Gilday arrived in India on Monday on a five-day visit, meeting Indian Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla on Tuesday.
In addition to New Delhi, Admiral Gilday, who is a Surface Warfare Officer and an expert rifle and pistol marksman, will be visiting the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command in Mumbai and the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam.
Admiral Gilday, accompanied by an Indian delegation, will also embark the U.S. Navy Carrier Strike Group led by USS Carl Vinson in the Bay of Bengal as the second phase of the four-navy Exercise Malabar takes place this week.
