The Czech Ministry of Interior has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters for the acquisition of 11 five-bladed H145 helicopters for the Czech Police Aviation Service. The agreement includes the aircraft as well as training and logistics support for their introduction into operational service.
The helicopters will be used for law enforcement missions, search and rescue operations, and emergency medical tasks. They are expected to replace the Czech Police Aviation Service’s current fleet of H135 family helicopters.
The Czech Police Aviation Service currently operates nine H135 helicopters. According to Airbus, replacing the fleet with H145 helicopters will increase operational range and lifting capability while introducing digital maintenance systems.
Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters, said: “This agreement highlights the H145’s versatility as a multi-mission aircraft, capable of shifting quickly from demanding police work to life-saving rescue duties. In choosing the H145, the Czech police forces are joining a large number of law enforcement operators across Europe who have placed their trust in this platform, including several state police forces in Germany, the French Gendarmerie, and the Lithuanian Border Guards.”
More than 1,800 helicopters from the H145 family are currently in service worldwide, with more than 8.5 million flight hours recorded. The H145 is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines and includes a full authority digital engine control system, the Helionix avionics suite, and a four-axis autopilot system for flight operations.
