Saab has received an order worth SEK 3 billion for RBS 70 Bolide short-range air defence missiles from the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2032.
The order is placed under a framework agreement for the RBS 70 NG system involving Saab, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and Lithuania. Lithuania has operated the RBS 70 air defence system since 2004. The RBS 70 NG is also part of Lithuania’s vehicle-integrated mobile short-range air defence (MSHORAD) capability, intended to provide protection for moving units.
“With this order, we continue our commitment to supporting the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ with our world-leading RBS 70 missiles. These form a key part of the nation’s air defence capability and contribute to keeping Lithuania’s airspace safe,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area.
The missile order follows additional procurement decisions by Lithuania earlier this month. The Defence Materiel Agency signed a contract with Saab Dynamics for anti-tank weapons, including EUR 60 million worth of ammunition for the 84 mm Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, to be delivered between 2026 and 2030, and EUR 96 million worth of AT4 disposable grenade launchers.
“Stockpiling ammunition is a vital element of strengthening Lithuania’s defence capabilities. Securing a continuous provision of modern and reliable ammunition for the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Therefore, ammunition of the 84 mm Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle and disposable grenade launchers are consistently acquired and stockpiled,” said Robertas Kaunas.
