21 sailors of the Indian Navy have tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus in Mumbai. While all of these sailors are asymptomatic, StratPost understands that two of these sailors are married.

All of them are logistics sailors who come from the same block at INS Angre, which is the base depot ship or offshore administrative hub of the Indian Navy at Mumbai and services multiplying outlining naval units.

All sailors in this particular block had been in quarantine after a sailor there had tested positive a week back. This sailor is now believed to be an active case. According to the navy, “Most of these are asymptomatic and have been traced to a single sailor who was tested positive on 07 Apr 20. They all reside in the same accommodation block at INS Angre. All primary contacts (though asymptomatic) were tested for COVID 19. Entire living block was immediately put under quarantine – containment zone and INS Angre too is under lockdown.”

The affected sailors are being treated at INHS Asvini, the naval hospital at Mumbai.

The navy also said, there are ‘no cases onboard ships and submarines’.

This story will be updated as more details emerge.

Updated to correct number of positive cases from 25 to 21.
