Two U.S. Air Force Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightening II Joint Strike Fighters landed at Yelahanka to participate in Aero India 2023 on Monday.
Major General Julian C. Cheater, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs, said, “The F-35 represents the leading-edge of U.S. fighter technology. Aero India is an ideal forum to showcase the most advanced, capable, lethal, and interoperable weapons systems the U.S. has to offer. This system and others are designed to penetrate and defeat advanced adversary air defences.”
The F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team fighter, which took-off from Hill Air Force Base in Utah in the U.S. will be showing-off the capabilities of the fifth generation aircraft with demonstrations of it ‘unique aerial capabilities’ according to a statement from the U.S. consulate in Chennai. The second fighter from Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska will be on static display.
The U.S. consulate says ‘The F-35’s engine produces 43,000 pounds of thrust and consists of a 3-stage fan, a 6-stage compressor, an annular combustor, a single stage high-pressure turbine, and a 2-stage low-pressure turbine.’ Since its arrival, F-35 has also been trending on Twitter
The U.S. is the only country to send fighter aircraft to Aero India 2023. Other U.S. fighters at Aero India 2023 include two Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornets and two Lockheed Martin F-16s, one of which will be conducting daily flight displays.
