Raytheon has been awarded a U.S. Army contract worth approximately $1.02 billion for the procurement of National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) fire units for Kuwait under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

The contract, announced in a Pentagon contract award notice released on May 26, is structured as a firm-fixed-price agreement valued at $1,020,659,819. According to the notice, the award covers the procurement of NASAMS fire units and is funded through Fiscal Year 2026 Foreign Military Sales funds allocated for Kuwait.

NASAMS is a ground-based air defense system designed to detect, engage and intercept a range of aerial threats. The system is used by multiple countries and is intended to provide protection against aircraft, helicopters, unmanned systems and certain missile threats. The system combines sensors, command-and-control elements and missile launch components into an integrated air defense network.

The Pentagon estimates the completion date for the contract to be May 26, 2031.

The contract award represents a major acquisition of air defense capability for Kuwait through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales process. No additional program details were provided in the Pentagon contract notice released on Tuesday.
