Saab will participate in the Dubai Airshow 2025, taking place from 17–21 November at Dubai World Central in the United Arab Emirates. The company will exhibit a range of its air, surveillance and defence systems at stand #945 in the main exhibition hall.
Saab stated that it will present systems designed to support operational air power, including the Gripen E fighter and the GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) platform. Saab will also take part in the Dubai International Air Chiefs’ Conference as a gold sponsor.
For the first time at the Dubai Airshow, Saab will display a model of the Gripen E. The company said the aircraft is developed “to counter and defeat advanced future threats.” GlobalEye, already in service with the UAE Air Force and Air Defence, will also be featured. Saab describes it as an AEW&C solution capable of providing simultaneous air, maritime and ground surveillance.
Saab will showcase systems developed in cooperation with the UAE’s Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement. These include the Coast Control Radar, a software-driven system intended to support maritime security, and DeployNet, a secure communications network designed for military operations.
Heléne Bittmann, Managing Director of Saab in the UAE, said, “Now more than ever, protecting the sovereignty of airspace is foremost in the minds of many. Saab’s expertise in airborne and ground systems that protect and defend national airspace are central to our Dubai Airshow presence. Our solutions contribute significantly to national security and will be very much part of our discussions with potential customers. We are committed to our partners in the region and look forward to meeting our customers and engaging with stakeholders from the UAE and beyond.”
The Giraffe 1X radar will also be present at Saab’s stand. The multifunctional system provides air surveillance, ground-based air defence support and drone detection. Saab will additionally display its civil and military digital tower systems, including the Deployable Digital Tower capable of supporting airstrip operations and remote management from secure or centralised locations.
Other technologies on display will include Saab’s Arexis electronic warfare suite for the Gripen E and Eurofighter EK, as well as countermeasure systems intended to detect and respond to hostile threats.
On Friday, the company announced it had received two orders from Airbus Defence and Space for the Arexis Electronic Warfare (EW) sensor suite to equip German Eurofighters. The total order value is approximately €549 million with the delivery period between 2025-2028.
The company said in a statement, ‘The first order marks the continuation of the contract signed with Airbus Defence and Space in March 2024 for the integration of the Arexis EW sensor suite for the Eurofighter EK (Elektronischer Kampf). The order value is approximately €291 million and the order is booked immediately by Saab.’
Saab said the second order includes ‘AI technology by both Saab and its strategic partner Helsing,’. with a value of approximately €258 million, which is ‘subject to authority approval.’
“We are proud to deliver Arexis to the German Air Force, which further strengthens the Swedish-German cooperation. Arexis is one of the most advanced fully digital sensors and jamming systems available on the market. The system will improve the Eurofighter’s situational awareness and survivability on the modern battlefield,” says Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.
