Suspected Chinese spies being probed: Antony

Indian Defense Minister Arackaparambil Kurian Antony said on Monday that the government has taken serious note of clandestine activities of Chinese nationals in India and that the investigating agencies were conducting inquiries in the matter.

“The central agencies are inquiring into the details (of alleged Chinese spies) and the government is taking the issue seriously. We are trying to find out the details and the truth,” Antony told reporters.

India had caught at least four people with links to China in the recent weeks and investigating agencies are interrogating them.

Among those being probed is the 17th Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorje, a Tibetan spiritual leader based in Dharmashala, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, which is also the seat of the Tibetan-government-in-exile.
