Su-57D Two-Seat 5G Fighter Makes Debut

Russia’s Su-57D has completed its first test flight, marking the debut of what is considered the world’s first two-seat fifth-generation fighter aircraft. The new variant is intended to combine combat, training and command-and-control roles, including management of operations involving manned and unmanned aircraft.

Global defence revenues surged to a record $679 billion in 2024, driven by the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and rising geopolitical tensions, according to new SIPRI data. The world’s 100 biggest arms makers saw sales grow 5.9 percent, with strong increases in Europe and steady dominance by U.S. firms. SpaceX entered the Top 100 for the first time, while China posted a rare decline due to procurement disruptions.

Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation has handed over a new batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers to the Russian Ministry of Defense with production continuing at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Plant. Rostec stated that the Su-34 continues to serve as a key platform for frontline aviation, with the capacity to carry a variety of weapons ranging from unguided bombs to precision-guided missiles.
