France Orders Giraffe 1X Radar Vehicles

France has ordered Giraffe 1X radar systems integrated onto Scania tactical vehicles to strengthen low-altitude air defence and anti-drone detection capabilities. The systems will replace part of the French Army’s older radar fleet, with deliveries planned between 2026 and 2027.

Sweden will take command of NATO’s Forward Land Forces in Finland this summer, marking its first role as a Framework Nation. The multinational force will support deterrence and defence operations in Northern Europe, with a battalion group based in Sweden.

Sweden Plans Aurora 26 Military Drills

Sweden will conduct Aurora 26, its largest military exercise of the year, from 27 April to 13 May. The drills will involve over 16,000 personnel and allied forces, focusing on reinforcement operations, coordination, and defence planning under NATO frameworks.

Embraer has completed a cold-weather test campaign of the KC-390 Millennium in Sweden, demonstrating operations in Arctic conditions. The aircraft conducted short takeoffs, rapid loading and vehicle deployment as part of logistics and ACE evaluations.

Germany has sent a small military team to Greenland as European countries step up support for Denmark amid US pressure over the Arctic territory. The deployment is part of wider joint exercises aimed at improving security cooperation and strengthening NATO’s presence in the region.

Colombia Orders 17 Saab Gripen Fighters for €3.1B

Saab has signed a €3.1 billion contract with Colombia for 17 Gripen E/F fighter aircraft including two twin-seat Gripen F fighters to be delivered between 2026 and 2032, following orders from Thailand recently, a Ukrainian letter of intent for hundreds of aircraft and strong prospects coming up in Canada.
