The Royal Thai Air Force has ordered two Airbus C295 tactical transport aircraft for operation by the service’s 46th Wing Division at Phitsanulok air base in Thailand. Airbus said the aircraft will be assembled at its Defence and Space facilities in Seville, Spain, with the first delivery planned for the first half of 2029.
Thailand already operates three C295 aircraft through the Royal Thai Army, which has used them for cargo and troop transport missions since 2016.
According to Airbus, the transport-configured C295 can carry up to 70 troops or 49 paratroopers. The aircraft can also operate from unprepared runways, conduct cargo and paratrooper drops, and support medical evacuation missions.
Airbus also said it works with Thai Aviation Industries for maintenance support and training related to the existing C295 fleet in Thailand and support activities.
