The first batch of Indian Air Force (IAF) Boeing CH-47F Chinook helicopters arrived in India today.

Four of the fifteen CH-47F(I) heavy lift helicopters arrived at Mundra Port on Sunday, according to a statement issued by Boeing. The aircraft will be operated by the 126 Helicopter Flight of the IAF, which has been operating the Russian Mi-26 heavy lift helicopter.

Earlier this month, Boeing held the transfer ceremony at its Philadelphia facility where the newly-arrived Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Harsh Shringla accepted the aircraft, which is part of a USD 3 billion order that also includes 22 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. The IAF has an option for an additional seven CH-47F aircraft. The order was placed in 2015.
