The EU Council has endorsed Germany’s medium-term fiscal plan and activated the national escape clause, allowing limited temporary flexibility for higher defence spending under the Stability and Growth Pact. The clause permits deviation of up to 1.5% of GDP annually for four years while maintaining overall fiscal discipline.
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems unveiled the L-SPIKE 4X Launched Effect and showcased the Iron Beam laser air defense system at AUSA 2025 in Washington, D.C. The company said Iron Beam is entering delivery to the Israel Defense Forces, while the new L-SPIKE 4X expands its precision strike missile family.

Also noteworthy will be the Exocet anti-ship missile, with the SM39 submarine variant already delivered for the Indian Navy’s Scorpene submarines.
The Naval Group will also display the F21 Heavy Weight Torpedo, which it is offering for integration onto the Indian Navy’s Scorpene submarines.
The company will also demonstrate the LiteHUD Head-Up Display, the 40 Mk4 Air Defence Gun, the 57 Mk3 Naval Gun System and the Combat Vehicle 90 and BvS10 Beowulf vehicles.
The wing is built at the Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Limited (TLMAL) facility in Hyderabad, which is also the ‘single global source of C-130J empennage assemblies installed on all new Super Hercules aircraft’.
It’s also showing off its Laser Beam-Riding MANPAD System (LBRMS), Lightweight Multi-role Missiles (LMM), Laser-Guided Rocket and mortar systems.
The exhibition is expected to feature special business days and conferences, including an investment conference, a defence innovation event, an India-Africa Defence Dialogue and an India-Russia defence industry conference.
Tributes poured in from around the world after India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and 12 others died in a an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter crash in the Nilgiris in the southern Indian Tamil Nadu state on Wednesday.
This is the third aircraft to be delivered under an option contract for four additional aircraft that the Ministry of Defence awarded in 2016 in addition to the eight aircraft already in service.
