Lithuania has placed an order with Saab for the Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon system and associated training equipment under a new agreement between the company and the Lithuanian government.

Saab said the order is valued at SEK 460 million ($49 million), with deliveries scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2029. The company also stated that the agreement includes options that could increase the total value to SEK 640 million ($69 million).

According to Saab, the ten-year agreement covers Carl-Gustaf M4 weapons, sub-calibre adapters for training ammunition use, and Carl-Gustaf Outdoor Trainers. The agreement also includes cooperation with Lithuania’s defence industry in line with Lithuanian regulations.

The Carl-Gustaf system is a man-portable recoilless rifle designed for use in different battlefield roles. Saab said the system is intended for use by dismounted troops and can be adapted for different operational requirements. The training systems included in the agreement are intended to support individual and collective training activities.

“We are proud to continue providing the Lithuanian forces with the highly effective capabilities of the Carl-Gustaf weapon together with our training equipment, enabling the soldiers to prepare for and carry out their missions safely and with confidence,” said Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Business Area Dynamics.

Saab said it will conduct deliveries under the order over a three-year period beginning in 2026.
